Students, faculty and staff across the Plainville school district participated in the Connecticut Children's Medical Center's "PJ Day for the Kids" on December 10th, raising funds for patients in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology.

PHS Carolers Entertain!

On December 4th, a select group of juniors and seniors from the Plainville High School choirs gathered at the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, Connecticut to sing carols. This was the first public performance for the group since the COVID situation started nearly two years ago.

Paint Night at MSP!

Students, families and staff at the Middle School of Plainville came together on December 1st for a night of fun and creativity at MSP's "Paint Night". Art Teacher, Laura Meehan created step-by-step painting demonstrations for the group of painters to follow along.

ASL at MSP

The Middle School of Plainville has started an American Sign Language (ASL) Club. 22 students in grades 6-8 gather weekly after school to learn how to communicate using ASL.

Mr. Peabody's Apples at Wheeler

10/04/2021

Wheeler Elementary School students in Lindsay Crane's fifth grade class recently read Mr. Peabody's Apples written by "Madonna", followed by participating in an activity, where they squeezed all of the toothpaste out of a tube and were then asked to put all of it back into the tube. The toothpaste represented words that can be unkind, and that cannot be taken back.

Hispanic Heritage Month

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Middle School of Plainville World Language students in Mari Martinez's class researched a notable Hispanic American, created a slideshow and presented their information to their classmates.

MSP Students building Catapults

Catapults at MSP!

As part of the Middle School of Plainville's summer learning program, students were recently tasked with building a catapult after experimenting with water balloon launches. The students spent two weeks creating working catapults from lumber using saws, vices, and other traditional tools.

Creating Black Box Theater

PHS Theater Club Refurbishes Choral Room

The Plainville High School Theater Unlimited Club voted to refurbish the high school's Choral Room (Room 403) into a black box theater. Under the guidance of faculty members TJ Riccardo, Todd Helming, Dave Gaignard and Facilities Director Steve Busel, the students are painting the presentation space, building a light and sound booth, adding projection, digital sound and digital lighting.

PHS "Adopt a Senior 2020" Program Seeks Community Support

While end of year activities and plans for the Plainville High School Class of 2020 graduation on June 12th are underway, a unique program has been developed by school and district administration, together with the high school's Parent Advisory Council, as a tribute to the graduating senior class. The "Adopt a Senior 2020" initiative was created as a way to enhance this year's non-traditional senior year events and graduation day festivities, in light of the current pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings.
